Although seeing as I did mention I was coming to see you, perhaps... it would be better if they did worry a little bit instead.

We... we just dozed off in the middle of a movie. That's... normal enough, right?

[Normal enough for some people to believe, maybe, but Jade could see through anything...]

[But maybe that didn't matter? Here he was, waking up next to Kohan after an amazing night together. The last thing he should be caring about it what the others might think.]

[And if he's already coming home late, there's no reason he can't be a little later, right?]

...yes, I think that sounds about right. [He turns back and rests his head on Kohan's shoulder.] And when he woke up, we decided we might as well sleep in a little longer... right?

... Are you still tired?

[ Kohan's not the one who's gonna get in trouble here, after all... ]

No, I think I slept enough. I just don't want to get out of bed yet.

[This the part where Ion lays back down and grabs Kohan's arm to pull him back down with him.]

[He'll deal with whatever consequences arise later. He's old enough to make his own decision, and right now he's completely fine with making this one!]

[ Oh. Okay, well, guess Kohan's going down on the bed too. Not that he really objects, just... yeah Jade scares him a little as well.

But he leans against Ion a bit and seeks out his hand to hold. ]

How do you feel?

[ For lack of anything better to ask. ]

[Jade has that effect on everybody. Thankfully, the worst he could do is embarrass them a little.]

[Taking Kohan's hand, Ion stretches his other arm across Kohan's chest, letting out a contented sigh.]

...warm. And comfortable. [He tilts his head up so he can look at Kohan's face.] How about you?

[ Kohan smiles back. ]

About the same. I can't believe we... [ He brings a hand up to cover his eyes, trying not to blush and only somewhat succeeding as he laughs under his breath. ]

I'm still not convinced it wasn't all just a very nice dream.

[He chuckles back, thinking how cute it was that even after all that, Kohan can still blush just from mentioning it -- even though he's blushing right now too just from thinking about it.]

...so, do you think you found your answer last night?

[ ... oh, right ]

... Well, I still can't... really say for sure, I guess. But... one thing I do know is, I've never felt like this about anyone else.

[The smile on Ion's face brightens a bit as he blushes.]

...I think that's good enough for me. Take as much time as you need to think about it. As long as I get to stay by your side, I'm happy.

[With a soft laugh:] We're a little more than friends, now... but you're right.

Yeah, but you're still my friend anyway. [ And right now you're getting your hair ruffled. ]

[Now that just makes Ion giggle, playfully swatting away at Kohan's hand.]

And you're still mine, too. [Aaand now he's gonna try and counter-attack!!]

[Except it's with a kiss on the cheek instead, d'aww.]

[ How is that even a counterattack. That's more like a distraction.

A pretty poor distraction, even, because Kohan just rolls his eyes and ruffles Ion's hair harder at that. ]

[Well gosh if that's the way they're gonna play...!]

[He rolls over until he's on top of Kohan, sitting up so he's straddling his waist and out of reach of more hair ruffling. As if his hair wasn't already everywhere from forgetting to tie it back before going to sleep...!]

[ Well Ion, you're topping. Now what?

How about Kohan leaning up to try to sneak a kiss of his own, hmm? ]

[Oh, well Ion doesn't have any complaints about that. In fact, he'll just go ahead and return the kiss, wrapping his arms around him.]

[Definitely the best way to start the morning.]

[ The doubt has already started to eat away at the back of Kohan's mind. One day, maybe sooner, maybe later, he'll start looking back on this and wondering if this, too, really happened. And more than anything else, maybe that's what he is afraid of. Doing something so important that he never wants to second-guess whether it was real... knowing that everything that he ever remembers is second-guessed. A life full of constantly-vanishing moments that have no tangibility that he can truly believe in.

But... that's not for right now. Right now, he can wrap his arms around Ion in return, pull him close, feel the heat against his body and know that this is real. This moment is happening. He'll never have this moment again, and once he no longer has it, he'll doubt it. But for now, it's his. It's real. ]

No matter what... we'll still be friends. [ 'We have to be.' ]

[Ion doesn't say anything at first, and instead just tightens his grip around Kohan, resting his head against his shoulder. He can hear Kohan's heart beating in his chest when they're this close -- it's comforting. Although Ion doesn't share Kohan's fear that his memories may one day turn out to be fake, he does share that fear of losing what they have. He's already living on borrowed time, and Luceti has proven time and time again that people can be sent back without warning at any time.]

[But right now, they're both here. He can feel Kohan in his arms, and he can hear his heart beating in his chest. Right now, they're together.]

That's right. [His voice is soft, but Kohan shouldn't have to look down to know he's smiling.] We'll always be friends. I promise.
